John Tavares will do his due diligence and review his options in free agency. He’s told the New York Islanders that he will speak with five teams in the period before July 1st, 2018.
The Islanders captain and former first overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft is well aware of the situation on the Island. The only team he’s ever known has completely rebuilt its front office in an attempt to keep him from leaving.
He knows that the Islanders have one of the better top-six in the NHL. He knows that the prospect pipeline got a significant boost at the 2018 draft.
