New York Islanders Defensive Backbone Remains Intact

The big news that came out of the Islanders locker clean out was that Islanders defenseman, Travis Hamonic WILL BE an Islander next season.

Hamonic informed GM Garth Snow this past week that he will rescind his trade request.

Hamonic, who is only 25-years-old, posted 21 points and helped the Islanders to the second 100 point season, as well as winning their first playoff series since 1993.

The rumor, which was made public back in November, was that Hamonic wanted to be traded to the Winnipeg Jets to be closer to home, which is Manitoba because of receiving news on the health of a family member.
