New York Islanders Daily Links: Howie Rose Leaves the Booth

Related Topics: New York Islanders, Howie Rose

The big news from yesterday was that long-time play-by-play voice for the New York Islanders, Howie Rose, is stepping down from the booth.

Newsday was the first to break the news. According to Rose, he wanted to reduce his workload. For the past twenty years, Rose served as the lead announcer for the New York Islanders and as the play-by-play announcer for Mets games on the radio.

The man’s voice will truly be missed. Look at your twitter feed and you’ll certainly think that something tragic happened to Rose by the way people reacted. Thankfully that wasn’t the case, but it shows just how great an impact a voice can have on people’s attachment to the game.
