It’s been almost a year since the New York Islanders officially announced their return to Long Island, with the Belmont Park Arena. Since the announcement was official, the biggest question was when is the development going to begin.
It appears we have that answer after co-owner Jon Ledecky spoke to the media yesterday. In May of 2019, you can expect the ground to break on the Islanders new arena.
This news comes on the heels of reported backlash from the community, but Jon Ledecky says he’s taking that very seriously.
“I have taken tours of every single town in and around the arena,” he said.
