At this time last year, the New York Islanders had a problem in net. Thomas Greiss was the only goalie under contract for the following season, so they had to go out and acquire someone in free agency or trade.
The Islanders elected to go with Robin Lehner who wasn’t offered a contract from the Buffalo Sabres. Due to a tough year both on and off the ice, Robin Lehner became available and the Isles scooped him up on a one year deal.
After an impressive season, Lehner can either extend with the Isles or hit the open market.
