Islanders sign Josh Bailey to six-year contract

The Islanders have signed an All-Star to a long-term contract.

OK, it’s not John Tavares, but his longtime running mate has committed to stick around for six more years. Josh Bailey, a first-time All-Star enjoying a breakout season, agreed to a six-year deal Friday worth $30 million.

Bailey has 15 goals and 62 points in 58 games for the Islanders this season. After eight seasons with no more than 41 points, Bailey improved to 56 last season and already has another career-best this year.

“Josh has become one of the core members of the New York Islanders,” Islanders general manager Garth Snow said in a statement.
