Last season, the New York Islanders signed Grant Hutton, Bobo Carpenter, and Mason Jobst from the collegiate ranks into the pros. The common thread amongst all three wasn't just that they were going to simultaneously make the leap from the collegiate ranks to the pros, but that they were also former captains of their collegiate squad.
Defenseman Grant Hutton was the captain for Miami University (Ohio). Mason Jobst captained his Ohio State University squad for two seasons before being signed by the Isles. And Bobo Carpenter held the "C" for Boston University in his final college season.
