Happy Easter to those Islanders fans and Lighthouse Hockey readers that celebrate. But, if I know anything about Islanders fans, even those that do not celebrate Easter will always celebrate Easter Epic Day.
It was not this exact date 24 years ago—that is how it goes with a holiday that is a different day every year. But it was the night before Easter, and well into Easter morning, that the New York Islanders beat the Washington Capitals on the road in Game 7, thanks to Pat LaFontaine’s shot from inside the blue line.
Today’s Islanders made sure to celebrate the holiday by allowing the Philadelphia Flyers to come back in the third period; they wanted to win in extra time, too.
