Islanders coach Barry Trotz wonders how lack of traveling will affect players

Hockey teams are used to the travel that comes with its season. It’s part of the routine athletes crave.

So just as Barry Trotz left Long Island six weeks after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the NHL to pause its season on March 12 for his lakeside property in British Columbia because he mentally needed a change of scenery, the Islanders coach wonders how a lack of traveling will affect the players if play does resume.

“It’ll help physically, 100 percent,” Trotz said on Friday in a radio interview with WFAN’s Evan Roberts and Joe Beningo.
