Islanders announce first-round playoff games will be at Coliseum, but further rounds at Barclays Center

The Islanders announced on Friday that if they qualify for the playoffs, first-round games will be played at NYCB Live’s Nassau Coliseum.

However, any subsequent rounds will be played at Barclays Center. The press release announcing the arrangement pointedly noted that the refurbished Coliseum, which has a capacity of 13,917, was too small for NHL standards.

“Following consultation with Governor Andrew Cuomo's office, the New York Islanders and BSE Global have announced that should the Islanders qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, any first round home playoff games will take place at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum,” the team said in a press release.
