Christopher Gibson Sent Down, Halak to Return

Halak hasn’t played since December 21 after suffering an upper-body injury and being placed on the injured reserve, but should at least be on the bench on Thursday. In twenty games this season, he has gone 10-6-3 with a .923 save percentage, contributing to the Islanders goalie tandem that has been so consistent all year long.

Thomas Greiss carried the load with Halak on the shelf, starting all five games in his absence. As he has been all year, Greiss was steady. He posted a .917 save percentage in the five game stretch, a number that would look even better if not for the onslaught he faced from the Dallas Stars on Sunday.
