Anders Lee has broken leg — will any Islanders be left for playoffs?

The Islanders suffered a big-time blow just before the start of the postseason: Power forward Anders Lee is out indefinitely with a broken left fibula suffered in Thursday’s 4-1 win over the Rangers, the team announced Friday.

Lee inadvertently blocked a shot from teammate Johnny Boychuk about six minutes into the first period. He played four more shifts in the period, but didn’t come out for the start of the second — and now he’ll be watching until the start of training camp.

The Isles were already dealing with a rash of injuries. Fourth-line stalwarts Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck sat out Thursday’s game in hopes of resting minor ailments and getting better for the start of the playoffs, and Steve Bernier and Eric Boulton took those two spots.
