Would drafting a tight end be a waste for the Giants?

University of Florida tight end Kyle Pitts has been linked to the New York Giants in NFL mock drafts from all over the internet. But would taking a tight end with the 11th overall pick make sense?

It depends on whether the Giants plan on re-signing their current starting tight end Evan Engram, as he heads into the final year of his rookie contract. If they know whether or not they’re going to keep him long-term they might be willing or unwilling to draft Pitts in the first round this coming April.

Now, the Giants could have the attitude that if Pitts is on the board and they can’t get any of the top three receivers in Devonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle or Ja’Marr Chase that they will then take him and trade Engram after a dropped filled season in 2020.
