When Frank Gifford nearly quit brutal NFL to work in Hollywood

Speaking to Frank Gifford was a privilege. The man exuded class, dignity and star power even many years after he retired from the Giants, for whom he did virtually everything — including selling a ton of tickets with his charisma and allure with men and women of all ages.

The Giants will honor Gifford, who passed away Sunday at the age of 84, this season with a patch on their uniforms, accompanied by a patch remembering team matriarch Ann Mara.

Several years ago, Gifford shared some special remembrances with me, memories that resonate even louder today.
