What's life like at the bottom of Giants depth chart? RB Jalen Simmons facing critical week in bid for roster spot

The hierarchy at the top of the Giants' running back depth chart is set with No. 2 overall NFL Draft pick Saquon Barkley expected to shoulder a heavy workload, Jonathan Stewart providing a veteran presence at the position, and Wayne Gallman expected to serve as a change of pace back.

However, this is a big week of practices for the likes of Jalen Simmons, and Robert Martin as they push for a spot on the 53-man roster to start the regular season.

Simmons, has spent time on the Los Angeles Chargers and Carolina Practice squads since going undrafted in 2016, but believes that his versatility as a downhill runner and capable pass-catcher out of the backfield gives him the chance to make a strong enough impression to finally latch onto a 53-man roster this summer.
