Take the bias out of it, take the fandom out of it, and think rationally for a second: did the New York Giants really need Evan Engram?
Throughout Eli Manning’s Hall of Fame career, his tight end options have been late-round draft picks (Kevin Boss), undrafted players (Jake Ballard), and high-end draft choices who flopped with their former team (Martellus Bennett).
But even with the selection of Engram, the Giants aren’t guaranteed a legitimate starting tight end, as his size and speed are more comparable to a wide receiver than a tight end.
What they do have on the roster, though, is Matt LaCosse, a traditional tight end, who is already impressing those at OTAs and minicamp.
