The Giants paid for leaving LT Ereck Flowers on an island vs. Lions | Film review

The Giants' irrational confidence in Ereck Flowers doesn't apply solely to public comments about the struggling left tackle. The team's game plan in Monday's 24-10 loss to the Lions demonstrated a belief that Flowers could handle defensive end Ziggy Ansah without any help.

The Giants' faith was not rewarded. All three of Ansah's sacks came in 1-on-1 matchups against Flowers, with the Giants neglecting to provide the aid of a chip block from a running back or tight end.

The Giants finally started to incorporate their running backs in pass protection after quarterback Eli Manning was sacked for the fifth time early in the third quarter.
