Talented prospects with red flags to test Giants’ draft sensibilities

Sometimes the safest pick turns out to possess unforeseen risk. Sometimes what is clean and sparkling at the time of the NFL draft gets tarnished before the very first rookie minicamp. The Giants will not know for sure who or what they are getting Thursday night with the No. 9 overall pick. Before making the call, though, they certainly have checked out the merchandise for damage.

Long before the first names roll out of the mouth of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the Giants will have dissected this crop of incoming players and cast a few of them aside, deciding they will not take them at any point in the seven-round draft because of severe character issues.
