The Pat Shurmur era began with a trip to the Senior Bowl and a reunion with one of his former players. The New York Giants claimed tight end Kyle Carter off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings, a source told ESPN's Field Yates.
Shurmur was officially hired Monday as the 18th coach in Giants history. He was the Vikings offensive coordinator for much of the past two years. He spent Tuesday at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, after getting stuck in snowy Minnesota the previous day.
Shurmur is in Mobile to meet with coaches and take in some practices.
