DETROIT — Pat Shurmur would not call it “chasing’’ because he said he was looking ahead and not behind. The Giants head coach made the decision to go for a two-point try with nearly 20 minutes remaining in Sunday’s 31-26 loss to the Lions at Ford Field and there is no doubt eschewing the extra point influenced his strategy down the stretch.
“It’s like any play you make or don’t make — you move on, try to make the next one,’’ Shurmur said.
The Giants trailed 24-19 with 4:54 remaining in the third quarter after Evan Engram’s touchdown catch.
