Giants coach Pat Shurmur invoked the infamous last words of his ousted predecessor Thursday when asked if he’s concerned about his job security entering Sunday’s sad local clash against the Jets.
“I’m built for this,” Shurmur said before practice, echoing the identical quote issued by Ben McAdoo three weeks before he was fired in December 2017.
The Giants have dropped five consecutive games to fall to 2-7, one win better than the 1-7 Jets are under first-year coach Adam Gase.
According to NJ.com, anonymous players said Shurmur told the Giants in a closed-door meeting earlier this week that jobs could be on the line if they don’t win Sunday ahead of a Week 11 bye.
