Well, you can scratch fullback of the NY Giants’ list of positional needs. Big Blue came to terms on a two-year contract extension with Elijhaa Penny on Wednesday night just before he was set to become a restricted free agent.
A former undrafted runningback out of Idaho, Penny has created a niche for himself as a fullback in the NFL. The move is a curious one, however, as Penny is not a traditional fullback and is more of a fourth halfback than anything else. It would have been nice to see the Giants bring in a more typical fullback and get back to more smashmouth football, but Penny appears to be the plan for now.
