The NY Giants released special teams contributor and wide receiver Cody Core Monday, in an effort to free up spending flexibility under the salary cap ahead of the NFL’s new league-year opening later this month.

Core, 26, was entering the second year of his contract after missing all of last season due to an Achilles injury suffered early in training camp. The NY Giants had high hopes for Core going into last season, because of his strong abilities as a gunner on coverage teams, in 2019.
