The New York Giants on Thursday cut third-string quarterback Jake Haener, according to the league’s transactions wire.
Haener has been back-and-forth between the practice squad and active roster. He has not appeared in a game. Most likely, he will land back on the Giants’ practice squad.
The Giants did not immediately fill the roster spot created by dropping Haener. With running back Cam Skattebo dealing with a hamstring injury and not having practiced this week, perhaps one of the two running backs on the practice squad — Phil Mafah or Eric Gray — could be added to the 53-man roster.
