New York Giants waive three, sign shot put All-American

Droogma attended Florida State, but surprisingly did not play football in college. Instead, the newest New York Giants interior lineman was an All-American shot put champion and discus thrower for the Seminoles. Droogma has not put on the pads since his senior year of high school, which was six years ago.

Giants made some roster moves today:
Waived: LB Ukeme Eligwe, DB Michael Hunter, DE Myles Humphrey.
Signed: G Austin Droogsma.
Droogsma, 6-4, 345 attended Florida State and didn't play football. He was an All-American in shot put. Hasn't played football since high school. Wow.

Despite the potential rust factor having not played the game in over half a decade, the Giants clearly saw something in the guard’s elite athleticism and it can be assumed they were impressed with his unique size and strength.
