New York Giants should play it safe with Olivier Vernon

At this point, New York Giants fans may have to wait until Week 2 to see No. 54 in action. It’s not ideal for Big Blue to start the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars without Vernon, but the second-team All-Pro outside linebacker’s health is more important than one game.

Vernon has not participated in practice this week due to a high ankle sprain. The Giants would surely love to have their top pass rusher on the field Sunday. However, it’s more important that Vernon is fully healed before returning to action.
