New York Giants: Olivier Vernon Injury Update Isn’t Promising

According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, New York Giants defensive end Olivier Vernon (ankle) missed practice on Thursday and his status for Week 1 vs the Jacksonville Jaguars is “not looking great.”

Vernon, who is dealing with a high ankle sprain, missed practice on Wednesday as well.

With the Giants re-tooling their defensive scheme, the 27-year-old has transitioned to the outside linebacker role this summer.

Behind him on the depth chart is rookie Lorenzo Carter and veteran Connor Barwin.
