According to NJ.com’s James Kratch, the New York Giants “aren’t trying to add” a veteran running back via free agency.
Kratch also states that it’s “unlikely” that free agent DeAngelo Williams would be an option for them.
Williams, who will be 34 years old at the start of the season, averaged only 3.5 yards per carry filling in and backing up Le’Veon Bell for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season.
Obviously, this news – if you’d like to call it that – comes as no surprise to any follower of the Giants.
With Paul Perkins expected to be the starter, and players like Shane Vereen, Wayne Gallman, and Orleans Darkwa on the roster, there just isn’t a fit for a player like Williams on the roster.
