New York Giants News, 9/7 – One underrated factor in beating the Cowboys

For the Giants to pull out a victory against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon, a lot has to go right. Stopping Ezekiel Elliott will be the primary focus for head coach Pat Shurmur and the Giants defense.

However, one thing has plagued the offense in the past, and that is converting on third downs. Better yet, putting themselves in short-yardage situations for third-down would be the ideal scenario. In 2018, the Giants had an average of 8.51 yards to go on second down, the second-highest distance in the NFL. Rebuilding the offensive line and seeing Saquon Barkley into his second season should alleviate some of that pressure and give the team better movement down the field.
