New York Giants News, 8/26 – Will Eli Manning retire in 2019?

The Giants have veteran quarterback Eli Manning backed up into a corner. Not only is he on the final year of his contract, but his successor is in the building and seemingly ready to take over as soon as possible. To add more factors into the mix, the Giants won’t give him more than $20 million on an extension given his value. If they offer him a substantial amount of money, general manager Dave Gettleman would only be hurting himself.

The 2020 available cap-space would take a significant hit, which would hurt the ability for the Giants to bring in a new right tackle and premium edge rusher.
