New York Giants hoping Corey Ballentine makes it to workouts

Ballentine, an upstart selection from Division II Washburn University (Kansas), was shot just hours after being taken by the New York Giants in Nashville. He was taken in the sixth-round with the No. 180 pick in the NFL Draft.

Hours later Ballentine and teammate Dwane Simmons were apparently shot outside a house party just blocks away from campus. Simmons later died of his injuries, and Ballentine was shot in the glutes, according to a report on ESPN.

Original reports indicated that Ballentine would join his new teammates at rookie mini-camp in East Rutherford this week.
