New York Giants hope bye week provides springboard

The first-half of Big Blue’s regular season schedule has played out as an extension of training camp. As part of their continuing makeover, the New York Giants executed two trades that sent starting interior defender Damon Harrison to the Detroit Lions and cornerback Eli Apple to the New Orleans Saints.

Those subtractions have lead the team to give unproven players like Grant Haley and R.J. McIntosh an opportunity sooner than anticipated.

Throughout the first eight weeks, head coach Pat Shurmur continued to shuffle his offensive line, as tackle Ereck Flowers was released as the first domino to fall.
