New York Giants fans were left scratching their heads when the team decided to keep four quarterbacks on the initial 53-man roster. It was inevitable for one of them to be gone before the team’s Week 1 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, however, no one expected Webb to be on the chopping block.
The Giants used a third-round draft choice on the Cal quarterback just last year. But that was a draft pick made by Jerry Reese, not current general manager Dave Gettleman. According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, the Giants were in trade talks with the Oakland Raiders regarding Webb, but that quickly fell through after the Buffalo Bills shipped AJ McCarron to the Silver and Black.
