New York Giants: Darius Slayton has all the makings of a #1 wide-reciever

When New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman took a shot on Darius Slayton in the fifth-round of the 2019 NFL draft, most liked the pick. Slayton displayed big-play ability at Auburn and ripped apart the combine, so most were in agreement that he was worth the ‘risk’ late in the draft despite production and drop concerns.

How everything has played out since that day has been a shocker to everyone, likely even Darius Slayton himself. The 6’1 speedster was a home run threat in college, as his 20.3 career yards-per-reception would indicate. However, he never caught more than 35 balls in any season, so the concerns about whether or not he could be a starter in the NFL seemed legitimate.
