It’s Mike Mayock season.
As the football community gathers in Indianapolis this week for the annual NFL Scouting Combine, the NFL Media draft analyst unveiled his first position-by-position rankings for the 2016 NFL Draft.
Mayock, a former Boston College defensive back who went on to play two NFL seasons with the Giants from 1982-83, said the deepest position group this year is “by far” the defensive line, especially the interior.
“Now I named my top five guys,” Mayock said, “but I could give you five more names [on the defensive line] who are probably every bit as good…I could go on 12 names deep where you might have conceivably a first-round grade.
