Lions’ Matt Patricia not trying to make Daniel Jones see ghosts

DETROIT — Matt Patricia’s NFL mentor is coming off such a sledgehammer defensive showcase that Jets quarterback Sam Darnold could be heard admitting he was “seeing ghosts’’ during a four-interception nightmare as the Jets were shut out by the Patriots on Monday.

Patricia, the Lions’ head coach, ran Bill Belichick’s defense in New England and now gets to put his defense on the field against Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones.

Perhaps Patricia can get Jones to see some apparitions.

“Pretty much trying to stick in the normal world,’’ Patricia deadpanned.

Jones was not seeing ghosts last week, but he was also not seeing much success in a 27-21 loss to the Cardinals, losing two fumbles and getting intercepted once.
