Josh Brown named NFC special teams player of the week

Giants kicker Josh Brown was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, the second Giant to receive the honor in a three-week span. It's the sixth time in his career Brown has won the distinction, and the second time with the Giants.

Brown kicked four field goals, including a season-long 53-yarder, in Sunday's 32-18 win over the Bucs. His 23 consecutive successful attempts are the NFL's second-longest active streak, behind Stephen Gostkowski of the Patriots with 28.

The 53-yarder also was the 36th of his career at 50 or more. He is second among active kickers in that regard, too, tied with Phil Dawson of the 49ers and trailing Sebastian Janikowski of the Raiders who has 50.
