EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Statistics can sometimes be illuminating. At other times they are confounding. In the Giants’ last two games, they’ve been a little of both.

For example, in an NFL in which teams prefer to move the football through the air, the Giants’ passing yardage totals were 118 at Denver and 131 against Seattle, easily the lowest figures in Ben McAdoo’s two seasons as head coach. Yet the Giants won the first game by 13 points, and lost the second by 17.
