How last year’s Giants Cinderella is sticking now that magic’s gone

Fans of the Giants often clamor for Corey Washington because they recall his scintillating 2014 summer, when he burst onto the scene as an undrafted free agent from little-known Newberry College. There was virtually no reason to expect Washington to make the team, but he did, on the strength of remarkable production as a receiver.

In five preseason games, Washington caught 10 passes for 155 yards, including four touchdowns — starting with a 73-yarder to win the Hall of Fame Game. Three of the touchdown catches were game-winners and, while no one cares much about who wins and loses these summer games, making plays late in games certainly can turn heads when it comes to convincing coaches to keep you around.
