How Giants hope Pat Shurmur's lunches with players will make 2018 season different from 2017 debacle

There's an old adage that "Families who eat together, stay together," and Giants head coach Pat Shurmur is hoping it holds true for his team after turmoil and locker room tension took grip during a disastrous 3-13 regular season in 2017.

Shurmur, hired by the Giants back in January to replace Ben McAdoo, has made a habit of eating lunch with his players in the team cafeteria, rather than in his office or with the assistant coaches.

"He eats in there a lot with us," Giants All-Pro cornerback Janoris Jenkins said Monday. "He’ll come by, sit with us and talk it up.
