How Giants are handling Saquon Barkley after hamstring scare

ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Saquon Barkley made the trip with the Giants, but he is unlikely to do anything on the field as the Giants and Lions spend three days practicing with each other.

Barkley sustained a mild left hamstring strain during Monday’s practice in New Jersey as he stretched out to haul in a deep pass from Kyle Lauletta. Barkley was on the field prior to Tuesday’s practice but was not wearing shoulder pads, a clear sign he will be an observer.

Most likely, Barkley will not work against the Lions the next three days and is expected to be held out of Friday night’s preseason game at Ford Field in Detroit.
