The practice squad is a gateway to the NFL for many young players.
The Giants began building their 10-player practice squad — names will change over the course of the season, maybe even in the next few days — on Sunday after NFL waiver claims were processed. The Giants reportedly put in six claims with the No. 2 priority.
The practice squad consists of players who cleared waivers and can practice with the Giants but are not among the 53 players eligible to dress on gamedays. By rule, only two of the 10 players can be classified as veterans with at least two years of experience in the NFL.
