Goodell: Giants Haven’t Pressed Issue After Finding Underinflated Steelers Footballs

IRVING, Texas (CBSNewYork/AP) — It seems this Deflategate won’t be nearly as drawn out as the last.

After the Giants reportedly alerted the league that the Pittsburgh Steelers used deflated footballs during their Dec. 4 game, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Wednesday the case was basically closed.

Goodell repeated an earlier assessment that the NFL looked into the matter and found that there were no chain-of-command issues.

“So all of the league protocols being properly followed, there’s no further follow-up on that,” Goodell told reporters at the NFL’s winter meetings.
