Giants Training Camp: Shurmur On Jones: ‘When His Time Comes, He’s Going To Be Ready’

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — For the first time in about a decade, the New York Giants seemingly don’t have to worry about Eli Manning getting hurt.

In just two preseason games, first-round draft pick and heir apparent Daniel Jones has shown he can play in the NFL.

Take a look at the statistics. Jones is 16 of 19 for 228 yards and two touchdowns. He’s completed 84.2% of his passes with a 151.8 quarterback rating.

No one ever would have felt the same about former backups Geno Smith, Alex Tanney, Davis Webb, Josh Johnson, Ryan Nassib or Kyle Lauletta in recent years.
