Brett Jones lost the center competition, and now he’s gone altogether.
The Giants traded the offensive lineman to the Vikings on Sunday for a 2019 draft pick, ESPN first reported.
Jones, a 27-year-old Canadian, played in 30 games the last two seasons for the Giants, either at left guard or center. He was beaten out by Jon Halapio for the starting center spot in camp, but he was in the mix for a backup job prior to the trade.
In Minnesota, center Pat Elflein is on the physically unable to perform list, and Jones could step in to start.
