With Shepard out, rookie Travis Rudolph will again take over as the slot receiver. Rudolph had three catches for 34 yards in last week's 12-9 overtime win over the Chiefs.
Apple is a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game. It wasn't a big surprise when Apple was inactive for the Chiefs game because he missed two days of practice due to personal reasons. But the second-year cornerback was fully expected to be back in the lineup after returning to practice this week. Ross Cockrell played well in Apple's place against the Chiefs.
