Not lost in all the losing, but perhaps a bit hidden, is the decrepit state of the Giants’ sickly return game. Their punt return average of 2.8 yards is dead last in the NFL, and their kickoff return average of 24.1 yards is 12th. It is no wonder the Giants lose the field-position battle on a weekly basis.
Perhaps a move made by the Giants on Sunday will help. They needed to bolster their injury-depleted wide receiver position and did so by signing Quadree Henderson off their practice squad.
The 5-foot-8 Henderson did big things at the University of Pittsburgh, finishing his career with a school-record seven returns for touchdowns — four on kickoffs and three on punts.
