The Giants’ pass rush was bad enough already. Now, Big Blue will have to play in Buffalo on Sunday without their top pass-rusher, defensive end Robert Ayers, who was ruled out with a hamstring injury.
Ayers will miss a second consecutive game after he re-injured his hamstring Wednesday in practice. With Jason Pierre-Paul still recovering from his self-inflicted fireworks injury and the Giants tied for third-worst in the NFL with just three sacks in three games, Ayers is a player they can ill afford to lose.
“He just strained it three-quarters of the way through the [Wednesday] practice,” coach Tom Coughlin said.
