Olivier Vernon's X-rays were negative but the news isn't all positive.
The Giants' top edge pass-rusher suffered a sprained ankle, according to multiple reports. He left the field Sunday on a cart, looking visibly frustrated but not in agony.
ESPNs Dianna Russini described the injury as a high ankle sprain and NFL Network's Rapoport said Vernon has a deep bruise high on his ankle and a timeline for recovery will not be clear until it is examined after he stays off his feet for a couple days.
High ankle sprains typically require more time spent on the sidelines -- 6-8 weeks in the worst cases -- than low ankle sprains.
