Giants not playing 'What if?' game with close losses early in season

Each of these Giants victories — the ones in the past two games and whichever possible ones lie ahead — have two effects on the team. The first is the obvious. Winning is good, everyone wants to win, and it’s better than losing. It makes it easier to come to work in the morning, more comfortable to spend the day in meetings going over the minutiae of pro football, and lightens the mood away from the building.

The second?

That it makes the earlier losses worse.

They already were tough to stomach on their own, such as the one the Giants lost to the Panthers on a 63-yard field goal as time expired, or the near comebacks against the Jaguars, Falcons and Cowboys.
